Mountain Lakes Chamber Hiring Director of Communications & Marketing

As Director of Communications and Marketing, you will lead the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce in telling its story across multiple channels using on-brand, on-target content marketing to serve our members and our mission. As a results-driven communicator, you are comfortable using data to make marketing decisions, and you can show progress towards your goals using available analytics. You are well versed in both traditional marketing (TV, radio, email newsletters, social media) and you are actively learning about any emerging channels as well. Internally, you’re organized and are able to gather content and feedback from multiple stakeholders, co-workers, Board of Directors, the County, municipalities, and others, while turning it all into a cohesive strategy to drive engagement for the Chamber. 


  • Brand ambassador ensuring all content produced by the Chamber is on-brand, both in style and tone
  • Work across multiple channels: chamber website, social media, email, and print
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to increase Chamber visibility and traffic to our website
  • Create engaging photographic content including informal/spontaneous photographs of interesting locations and individuals
  • Gather data and run analytics to gauge content effectiveness
  • Manage operation of Chamber website and content including updating pages and blog postings
  • Develop and oversee the editorial content calendar
  • Use imaginative and creative approaches to photographs/film/videos to create a compelling image
  • Manage digital files for use by other members of the Chamber
  • Participate in special projects or other duties as assigned


  • Excellent oral and written story-telling communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of branding and the dynamics of social media and e-marketing
  • Proficient technical compositional skills to produce images that visually tell a story
  • Ability to communicate, engage with the community, and invite their participation in telling the story
  • Demonstrated understanding of social media strategy and a keen desire to stay abreast of latest trends
  • Experienced with online monitoring and measurement platforms including Facebook Insights, YouTube, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in graphic design best practices and principles for both print and web projects
  • Experienced shooting still photos/videos, including lighting techniques, and understanding composed and lifestyle photography
  • Experienced with Photoshop/Image editing or comparable software
  • Strong technical background with advanced computer skills

 Personal Characteristics:

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

Experience and Education:

  • 2+ years of relevant social media experience (required)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field (preferred)
