Scottsboro/Jackson County, AL (April 26, 2023) – One of the most beloved fishing tournaments in northeast Alabama returns this weekend! Castin’ ‘N Catchin’ is Saturday, April 29 at Goose Pond Colony Marina beginning at safelight, approximately 5:30 a.m.
Castin’ ‘N Catchin’ raises money to support the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center at Children’s of Alabama. “The funds raised goes towards equipment and research, no one makes a penny,” said Robbie Copenhaver, Franchisee of Captain D’s Scottsboro, Al and Title Sponsor of the event. “My son spent time in Children’s Hospital when he was a couple years old, and when asked if I would be a title sponsor, I agreed because I was so impressed with the Children’s Hospital.”
Copenhaver’s friends who started the tournament, Drew McNutt and Tucker Bradford, both experienced having children with a congenital heart defect. These individuals work diligently to increase awareness about congenital heart defects, and to date they have raised more than one million dollars for medical research!
Their goal this year is to raise $200,000 more. Castin’ ‘N Catchin’ is an open tournament and anyone can participate. Register online or in person.
