The Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the Inaugural State of Education Address on Wednesday, October 19th at 7:30 a.m. at the Goose Pond Civic Center, 876 Ed Hembree Dr, Scottsboro, AL. This breakfast provides an opportunity for businesses and the community to hear from Superintendent Amy Childress of Scottsboro City Schools, Superintendent Jason Davidson of Jackson County Schools and Dr. David Campbell, President of Northeast Alabama Community College. These educational leaders will provide an update and discuss important topics related to their school system. Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) will join us and share an analysis of local and state trends within education and workforce.

“We have been wanting to do a State of Education Address for a long time, and we are excited the inaugural event has been scheduled. It is so important for education and business and industry to work together and we are thrilled with the partnership being built. This event will give our education partners an opportunity to share with everyone the exciting things being done to help prepare our students to enter the workforce,” said Rick Roden, President/CEO of Mountain Lakes Chamber.

Jason Davidson, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools, commented, “We are excited to partner with Scottsboro City Schools, Northeast Alabama Community College, and the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce to welcome business and industry to ‘The State of Education.’ This event will allow us the opportunity to inform business and industry of the status of grades Pre-k-12 in Jackson County Schools. Thanks to PARCA ,we can see data that shows the need for workforce development in our county and how ‘focused education’ will be the solution for employment shortfalls moving into the future.”
